While it is indeed true that a lot of the things you can hear about them nowadays is the tumultuous on- and-off romance between Kate Middleton and Prince William, the Middleton family remains to be one of the most prominent bloodlines in London, and the world for that matter. As just one testament to the family’s affluence and notable history, Middleton Place Plantation in South Carolina once housed a signatory of the Declaration of Independence, Arthur Middleton.
In London, however, the Middletons, although dispersed as they are, have entered different industries, and are quite successful in them. Kate Middleton’s parents, for example, own Party Pieces, a company that specializes in giveaways and other party favors, and one that has been steadily growing since 1987. Research into the genealogy of the Middletons in London also show that the family is also descent from a general in the English Civil War, Sir Thomas Fairfax and, on a more affluent note, they are also enjoying a 33 million pound estate from a centuries-old milling business named William Lupton & Co. So, while the Middletons may not be descent from royalty, they are indeed wealthy enough to hold their own.
